1980s 29mm Cartier Santos Carree ref.2961 Automatic Watch Only

This is the Santos before Cartier softened it-sharp, architectural, unapologetically industrial with that flat Carrée case defining the era. The two-tone execution isn’t decorative; it’s the identity, those gold screws and bezel turning a tool watch into something unmistakably Cartier. This example has also developed an unusually pronounced spider dial, giving an otherwise familiar reference a distinctly individual character.
At 29mm it reads modest on paper, but the square geometry gives it presence far beyond its measurements. This is the last of the true Carrée lineage-where the Santos still felt like a design object first, and a watch second.
