The Speedmaster Professional ref. 145.022 represents one of the most important evolutions of Omega’s Moonwatch, introducing the Calibre 861 that would form the mechanical backbone of the model for decades. This circa-1986 example carries the classic black step dial, hesalite crystal and twisted-lug case that define the vintage Speedmaster aesthetic. Inside is Omega’s manual-winding Calibre 861, beats the same 21,600bph architecture that powered generations of post-Apollo Speedmasters. Its fundamental proportions and design have changed remarkably little over the decades, making it immediately recognisable as the direct ancestor of today’s Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch.
