Produced in the late 1950s, the reference 6605 represents the moment when the Datejust settled into the form we now recognize as definitive. Executed in solid yellow gold, it reflects the Datejust’s original role as Rolex’s flagship luxury watch rather than an everyday steel icon. Inside is the chronometer-certified Cal. 1066, a pre-quickset “butterfly” automatic movement that captures Rolex engineering at its most mechanically honest.
