The SPB147J1 is Seiko’s modern echo of the 1965 62MAS, but with a warmth the originals never had—its brown sunburst dial and gilt accents give it a distinctly vintage soul without trying too hard.
Sized at 40.5mm with a restrained 47.6mm lug span, it wears like a proper tool watch while still appealing to collectors who’ve grown tired of oversized divers.
Inside sits the 6R35—hardly exotic, but dependable, with a 70-hour reserve that makes it genuinely usable in rotation. What makes the 147 special is its character shift under light; it’s one of the few modern Seikos that feels alive on the wrist rather than static.
